The residency visa for this type is issued for a more extended period – 3 years. Additionally, this visa gives an opportunity of performing business on the territory of the UAE.

Based on the above pros and cons, the majority choose the second option of applying for a permanent residency in UAE – through registration of a company.

Taxes In UAE

Dubai can widely be considered as a tax-free country with many tax advantages for those who live and work here, but there are circumstances in which you will be required to pay taxation in some form. The United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven emirates, with its autonomous emirate and local governments. Federal income tax does not exist in The United Arab Emirates. Each Emirate has enacted an income tax decree, but in practice, the enforcement of these decrees is restricted to foreign banks and oil companies.

Starting 2018, the UAE government imposed value-added tax (VAT) at a standard rate of 5 percent on some goods and services.

Each of the emirates has its laws and tax percentages on corporate taxes for companies operating within the emirate, but generally, taxes are imposed only on the following entities:

• Foreign companies producing oil or hydrocarbon within the UAE. Although the tax rates are generally 55% of the company’s operating profits, there are variations based on individual agreements between the emirate and the company for which it is working. These agreements are usually private and secured, and the rates may differ from 55 percent to 85 percent.
• Departments of foreign banks which run within each emirate are imposed to corporate tax, yet this law is not took into force in all emirates. In Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah, foreign banks are imposed to 20 percent tax on on their taxable income. There may be slight variations in the rate based on the Emirates.

Income Tax

The UAE Federal Government does not impose taxes on the wealth of companies and individuals in the UAE, and contrary to some reports, the ruling family of Dubai has stated that Dubai will never consider taxation as a way of returning debt, so it is unlikely that we will see any income tax levied in the years to come. • If you are absent from the UK and not employed during the whole tax year

Municipal and Property Tax

Municipal taxes are imposed on hotel services and on some types of entertainment shows. Service charge percentages among the seven emirates vary a lot. A service charge of 5 to 10 percent is charged on food bought in restaurants, while Hotels tax rates are 10 to 15 percent service charge each night on room rates. These charges are usually included in the customer’s bill, which then the municipality collects from restaurants and hotels.
